Deceptive and misleading Google Search results using Google + Local business listings to push Google’s paid ads.
In the last month, since the launch of Google Penguin 2.0 update (May 22, 2013), Google search results are bringing better SERP’s (Search Engine Ranking Positions) to high quality content pages and Google + Local and Google + Profiles assets.
I have seen here in Australia an array of Google Plus top listings for very popular search terms however in some cases (as above) the execution has not really been that great.
On the above example, the search “hotels bondi beach” brings some Google + Local business listings with some clickable pricing links that take the user to different hotels or websites ( not the one that the user clicked on).
You can see above that when I clicked on the $209 tag associated to the Swiss Grand Hotel Google + Local listing, Google then display a box with paid ads for Booking.com, Expedia.com.au, Hotels.com, UniTravel.com.
If I was the manager of Swiss Grand hotel I will be looking into this straight away to find ways to solve it or at least complain to Google about it.
GOOGLE SUCKS ON THIS! This is a misleading and deceptive practise from Google.
